Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1R8 Laptop Review

The Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1R8 is a brand new laptop from Toshiba’s famous Satellite range. With a stylish design and a low price of just around £300, we put this laptop through it’s paces.

Screen Size: 15.6 Inches
Screen Resolution: 1366×768
CPU: Intel Pentium N3520 2.17 GHz (Quad-Core)
Storage: 1000GB Hard Drive
DVD Drive: Yes
Maximum Battery Life: 3 hours 30 minutes
Weight: 3KG

Screen: 6/10

1366×768 is quite a low resolution for 15.6 inches. You will not get that “HD” feeling as you will be able to feintly see the pixels on the screen. This is fine if you aren’t interested in watching HD videos or graphics design, however if you need a higher resolution, this laptop isn’t for you. However for a general user, the screen is fine.

CPU: 8/10

The Intel Pentium N3520 is a great looking CPU, with quad-core and running at 2.17 GHz. This means that rendering web pages, watching videos and graphic design will run nicely on this laptop. Multi-tasking will also be a breeze on the Toshiba C55-A-1R8

RAM: 9/10

8GB is a great amount of RAM for a Laptop. You’ll be able to run multiple programs at the same time such as Photoshop, Google Chrome and Microsoft Word simultaneously. 8GB RAM is also great to use as a gaming laptop.

Storage: 9/10

This Toshiba Satellite features a great hard drive for a laptop – a whopping 1000GB (or 1TB) of storage space. If you had a 12 Megapixel camera, you could hold about 200,000 photos from your digital camera on your laptop! If the laptop used an SSD, it would definitely receive a 10/10 here.

Battery Life: 4/10

For an average user, 3 hours and 30 minutes is fine – you could leave the laptop with your child and it would survive through a whole disney film. However, for a user who needs to be on the go and using software that is strenuous on the laptop, this battery is not very good – hence why it has received 4/10 from us.

In conclusion, the Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1R8 is highly recommended for a general user, and any power user that can put up with the low resolution/battery life. Graphic Design, Netflix and word processing will be great on this laptop due to it’s high RAM, fast processor and high storage.
