Dell Inspiron 3531 Laptop Review

The Dell Inspiron 3531, from the popular Inspiron line of Dell notebooks is one of the best selling Laptops in the UK right now. In this review, we put it to the test.

Featuring the modern Windows 8.1 operating system and a beefy 2.16GHz makes this laptop great for it’s low price of just £219.99 (as of Dec 2014, Amazon). Below is our full review on the Insprion 3531.

Screen: 6/10

This notebook comes with a large 15.6 inch screen and a HD resolution. The screen will be fine for the average user, however if you want a “retina” crisp screen look, we recommend a laptop with a higher resolution such as the

CPU: 6/10

This notebook features an average CPU – an Intel Celeron that runs at 2.16GHz. It will run your everyday applications such Microsoft Word and iTunes fine, however expect tasks such as Video Editing to feel sluggish on this Inspiron.

RAM: 7/10

4GB is great for any laptop as it can run the operating system aswell as a decent amount of application on top. Because of this, and the cheap price of the Dell Inspiron 3531 we’re giving it a 7/10.

Storage: 7/10

This notebook comes with a 500GB Hard Drive which can store tonnes of documents, pictures and music. It runs at 5400RPM though, opposed to the faster 7200RPM Hard Drive that is available. This means that some applications will take longer to load. However it is not very noticeable to an average user!

Battery Life: 9/10

We were suprised that this Inspiron comes with up to 6.25 hours of battery life – that’s plenty of time to write your emails, relax with some music and play a few games. Not having to charge it as much will save you loads of time and increase productivity.

In conclusion, where this laptop falls short in performance, it makes up with it’s price and battery life. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a basic laptop to do the job, for parents looking for a laptop for their children and to any University student.
